How to Request a Quote for a Custom Surface Grinder Guard

Please complete the measurement form when requesting a quote or placing an order. The information provided allows us to design your surface grinder guarding system accurately in CAD. We will then provide a pre-construction drawing for your review and approval before fabrication.  To request a quote, provide:

Features

• Our custom-built surface grinder guarding improves safety by protecting operators and other personnel from the rotating grinding wheel and the potential shattering of grinding stone or part ejection.
• Constructed from 40mm square industrial aluminum T-slot extrusion, the finishes include clear anodize (standard) or orange powder coat (optional)
• 1/4" thick impact-resistant polycarbonate (Lexan) with rubber molding contained within the T-slot of the extrusion.  
• The doors slide open with white UHMW bearing pads that ride in the outside T-slot of the extrusion. The door opening length can be designed into the build.
• Our surface grinder guarding features a safety latch on the doors with a positive spring-loaded deadbolt, which is made from stainless steel and aluminum.
• The end panels are adjustable along the width of the main frame, allowing you to use the included angle brackets to mount them to the existing sheet metal shroud or ends of the table. The angle brackets can also be positioned anywhere along the front T-slot to allow you to drill and bolt to the existing shroud.
• Available with an optional safety interlock system. When this optional safety system is integrated into the surface grinder's  control, the machine will not be able to run until the guard doors are shut.

Can you build a guard for an older surface grinder?

Yes. ATS Safety builds custom guards for both current and legacy machines. Customers can provide photos, dimensions, and machine information for a custom solution.

Can the guard be interlocked?

Yes. Optional safety interlocks prevent machine operation while the doors are open.  Choose from tongue style interlocks (locking or non-locking style), magnetic non-contact switches, or RFID non-contact switches.

What if I can't mount to the machine?

We can build a floor-mounted variety that would mount to the concrete floor with anchors.
